About

Expanso processes data where it is created, on the customer's own hardware, instead of shipping everything to the cloud first. Its pipelines filter and transform data, run AI models and apply governance policy at the source, from factory floors to hospital wards, and send on only what is worth keeping. The data itself never passes through Expanso.

David Aronchick, the first product manager for Kubernetes and a co-founder of Kubeflow, started the company in 2023 with Walid Baruni, who engineered AWS's global logging infrastructure. It grew out of Bacalhau, the open-source compute project they built at Protocol Labs.

Array invested in Expanso's $7.5M seed round in November 2023, led by General Catalyst and Hetz Ventures.
