Ephemeral preview environments per pull request

About

Shipyard runs ephemeral environments: full-stack, production-like copies of an application that spin up automatically for every pull request and scale to zero when unused. Teams point it at the Docker Compose or Kubernetes setup they already use, and every branch gets a live preview for CI and end-to-end tests, QA and product review, without waiting on a shared staging server, cutting pre-production costs by 30 to 70 percent. It now gives AI agents the same isolated environments to test changes in.

Benjie De Groot and Peter Valdez, who had built Propellr together, founded Shipyard in New York. StackGen acquired it in 2026 as the place where its autonomous operations agents verify a change is safe before it runs.

Array co-led Shipyard's $2.3M seed round with Contour Venture Partners in October 2020.
