Stronghold is payments infrastructure for businesses that want to move money directly from bank accounts. Its developer APIs embed pay-by-bank into a product over ACH and real-time rails, settle in seconds rather than days, and let organizations run their own private payment networks or join StrongholdNET. The ledger behind it runs on blockchain infrastructure, and its SHx token powers rewards and governance across the network.
Tammy Camp and Sean Bennett met through the Stellar network in 2014 and founded Stronghold in San Francisco in 2017. It acquired 20022 Labs in 2024.
Array invested in Stronghold's $3.3M seed round in July 2018, led by Freestyle Capital.
