About
Tank Utility made wireless monitors for propane and heating-oil tanks, and the software that let fuel distributors see every customer's level in real time. Instead of delivering on fixed routes and guesswork, distributors could plan deliveries around actual demand, cutting wasted truck miles, while homeowners got an app that warned them before a tank ran dry.
The idea came from a weekend at a ski house where a group of EnerNOC employees arrived to find the propane tank empty. Amos Epstein, Kyle Murphy and Nicholas Mashburn started the company in Boston in 2014. It raised $8.2M, and Generac acquired it in 2021, keeping Tank Utility running as a business inside Generac.
Array invested in Tank Utility's $6M round in February 2019, led by Bullpen Capital.
